Cavar Puts Distance on Field; Other Categories Tighten in Points

(KENT, Wash) – With just three races left in the Auto Max USA Drag Race Series and only the next two counting toward team points for the E.T. Finals at the end of August, Super Pro driver Mark Cavar padded his lead over nearest rivals Al Chinn and John Ermish.

Cavar has a 73 point lead over Chinn with Ermish 121 points back in third place.  In the Pro category, the race for the series championship is up for grabs with 12 drivers within 100 points of leader Dustin Martin.  Brian Gittings, Greg Steen and Dustin Ward made the biggest gain in points last weekend.  Despite a first round loss, Bill Windley trails Martin by only 27 points.

An absent Don Elgin allowed red-hot Sportsman driver Gene Furman to take over the top spot in Sportsman.  Furman holds a slight 15 point lead over Elgin.  In motorcycle, a rare first round loss by Joe Lind allowed the field to narrow his lead in season points.  Jacob Havens is 20 points out of first place with Dan Funderburg 48 points behind the leader.

Next up for the Auto Max USA Drag Race Series is an evening race on Saturday, July 28th.  Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing until 11.
