Can Wilk 4-peat Today at Northwest Nationals
(KENT, Wash) – If Funny Car driver Tim Wilkerson wants to win four-in-row at Pacific Raceways, he is going to have to do it from the tough number eight position facing an equally tenacious Tony Pedregon as the stage is set today for final eliminations of the 25th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals Presented by Super Start Batteries.
Wilkerson, who is winless on the season, is looking to turn his fortunes around at a track where he has won the last three races. Racing the under the Diversified Yacht Services banner this weekend, Wilkerson is looking for a win to vault him into the Top-10 in points.
Other intriguing storylines at play today include Top Fuel driver Antron Brown and Pro Stock racer Allen Johnson attempting to sweep the “western swing” of three races in three consecutive weekends, with Denver and Sonoma being the previous two races. Brown has his Matco Tools dragster qualified number 5 with a 3.842 at 316.23 miles per hour. Johnson holds the top qualifying position in Pro Stock with his Team Mopar Dodge Avenger topping the field with a 6.554 at 211.66 miles per hour.
