Sportsman & Motorcycle Points Tighten
(KENT, Wash) – With two races remaining in the 2012 Auto Max USA Drag Race Series and only one race to decide Team Pacific Raceways, points in Sportsman and Motorcycle remain too close to call.
In Sportsman, nine racers are within 60 points of the top spot. Gene Furman has a one point lead over Keith Hadley with Don Elgin, Paul Young and Andrew Ward close behind. In Motorcycle, Jacob Havens vaulted into the points lead after the July 28th race with a slim 7 point differential over previous leader Joe Lind. Lurking right behind are Dan Funderburg and Dan Funderburg.
In Super Pro, Mark Cavar continues to distance the field with 369 points. He is 96 points in front of 2012 season champ Al Chinn with John Ermish, Jason Beggerly and Tim Schmitt rounding out the top 5. Dustin Martin continues to lead Pro with Camaro driver Bill Windley closing the gap. Martin has a 14 point cushion over Windley, with Scott Lewsley, Martin Lambert and Brian Gittings lurking right behind.
The Auto Max USA Drag Race Series continues on Saturday afternoon. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing until 11.
