Saturday Auto Max Update
(KENT, Wash) – With important points on the line for both the track championships and Team Pacific Raceways, there is a huge need to finish the Auto Max USA Drag Race Series event this Saturday (August 11). With a large number of cars expected, King of the Track on line (again), and the Westcoast Street Car Association’s final eliminations, racers will only get one time run before starting eliminations, said Ed Garfield, drag strip manager.
With an afternoon start and an 11 p.m. curfew there is no way to complete an event of this size unless we eliminate one of the two time runs, said Garfield. “A full rotation of time runs takes between 75 and 90 minutes depending on car count…and that’s with no problems,” he said. “I hope that racers understand that we are trying to make this work the best we can for them.”
Gates open Saturday at 4 p.m. Early parking will take place in Lot “C” where tech cards will be sold.
“We will be planning more all-day races next year,” said Tracie Brandenburg, General Manager. “We appreciate the large car counts and feel terrible that we haven’t been able to finish the last two races. Running within our current time constraints – both at the beginning and the end – makes it impossible to finish a large car count race if we have an oil down, and we had two oil downs at the last race (July 28),” said Brandenburg.
