Raceway Donation Tops Nearly $43k
(KENT, Wash) – A seven-year partnership between the local aerospace machinist union and Pacific Raceways has contributed more than $42,000 to the Guide Dogs of America. Robley Evans, of the International Aerospace Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 751 (IAM & AW) presented a symbolic check representing the donation to Pacific Raceways today (Oct. 10) in the amount of $42,905.
IAM & AW Local 751 represents 45,000 active and retired workers at The Boeing Company in the greater Puget Sound region and California. The union membership and Pacific Raceways partnered on a ticket program for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Race Series with proceeds going to the Guide Dogs of America. Evans, who also races in the drag race motorcycle class at the track, managed the program for the union.
Guide Dogs of America is dedicated to its mission to provide guide dogs and instruction in their use, free of charge, to blind and visually impaired men and women from the United States and Canada so that they may continue to pursue their goals with increased mobility and independence, according to its website.
